A Florida man is suing Outback Steakhouse after claiming he was seriously injured when a toilet at one of the chain’s restaurants collapsed while he was using it.

The lawsuit, filed on December 9 in Marion County, Florida, names Outback Steakhouse of Florida, LLC and centers on an incident that allegedly took place on March 26 at an Ocala location. According to the complaint, Michael Green entered the restroom, sat on a toilet in a handicap stall, and the fixture suddenly shattered and gave way, causing him to fall.

Green alleges he suffered severe injuries and says the restaurant failed to properly inspect and maintain the toilet, including ensuring it was securely fastened to the floor. The lawsuit claims Outback either knew or should have known the toilet posed a dangerous condition and failed to warn customers or fix the issue.

As a result, Green says he experienced lasting physical damage, pain and suffering, medical expenses, and lost wages. He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages, excluding interest and legal costs.
