Jake Paul is preparing for the biggest bout of his boxing career as he steps in the ring against two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua — and the money involved could overshadow the fight itself.
The blockbuster matchup takes place Friday night in Miami, with Netflix broadcasting the event. Interest is high, driven by the crossover appeal and the scale of the promotion. Paul enters the fight with a 12–1 record after beating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, with his only loss coming against Tommy Fury in 2023. Facing Joshua marks a significant jump in competition.
Early reports suggested the fighters would split a $184 million purse, while Paul later claimed the bout could be worth as much as $267 million, though that figure has not been verified.
So what does that mean for Joshua?
According to multiple reports, Anthony Joshua is expected to earn up to £70 million, or about $94 million, making it one of the largest paydays of his career — despite the fight being against a crossover opponent rather than a traditional heavyweight contender.
Joshua has spent much of 2025 recovering from injury, and the Paul fight is seen as a high-profile return ahead of a busy 2026. If all goes well, he’s expected back in the ring in February, with a potential summer showdown against Tyson Fury. Promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested that a Fury fight could push Joshua’s earnings close to $100 million, noting that the Paul bout is already among AJ’s biggest earners.
Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua takes place on Friday, December 19, at the Kaseya Center in Miami and will stream live on Netflix.
