Jake Paul has spoken publicly after news broke that Anthony Joshua was injured in a fatal car crash while vacationing in Nigeria following his recent win. The accident reportedly claimed the lives of two of Joshua’s friends and team members, while Joshua himself survived with multiple injuries.
After the reports surfaced, Paul shared a heartfelt message, putting rivalry aside and stressing that life matters more than boxing. He said he was praying for those who lost their lives, for Joshua, and for everyone affected by the tragedy. Paul later followed up with a separate tribute, naming Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, and offering condolences to their families, friends, and Joshua.
Joshua is said to be recovering at a local medical facility. Reports indicated the crash occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway and may have involved excessive speed, wrongful overtaking, and a tire burst, after his Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck.
The incident came shortly after Joshua reflected on his bout with Paul, where he downplayed the punches he took and admitted his own performance could have been better. Joshua dominated the fight, scoring multiple knockdowns and securing the win, while Paul later revealed he suffered a broken jaw and is now recovering.
