Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy and a climate journalist, has died at the age of 35, her family announced.

In a recent essay for The New Yorker, Schlossberg revealed she had been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia shortly after the birth of her daughter in May 2024.

“Our beautiful Tatiana passed away this morning,” her family wrote in an Instagram post. “She will always be in our hearts.”

Schlossberg, a mother of two, was the middle child of Caroline Kennedy and Edwin Schlossberg and a well-known voice on climate and environmental issues. She authored Inconspicuous Consumption and previously worked as a science and climate reporter for The New York Times before leaving the paper in 2017.

In her essay, she described being stunned by the diagnosis after doctors noticed unusual white blood cell counts, noting that she felt healthy and remained physically active at the time.

Over the past year and a half, she underwent multiple treatments, including chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant from her sister, and CAR-T immunotherapy.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. George Moran, their young son Edwin, and their infant daughter.
