Ray Dalio and his wife, Barbara, have joined a growing group of billionaires supporting President Donald Trump’s “Trump Accounts” initiative. Through Dalio Philanthropies, the couple plans to donate $250 to roughly 300,000 children in Connecticut living in areas where median household income is $150,000 or less.
The program proposes a one-time, tax-free $1,000 federal grant for every US child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Dalio said the initiative promotes equal opportunity by giving children early exposure to savings, compound growth, and financial literacy.
BlackRock also announced it will match the government’s $1,000 contribution for all eligible US employees’ children. Other major business leaders, including Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and financial services firm BNY, have pledged similar support, according to Invest America, the organization behind the program.
The initiative is set to launch on July 4, 2026. It follows a major commitment earlier this month from Michael and Susan Dell, who pledged $250 for 25 million American children, totaling about $6.25 billion.
Not all billionaires are on board, however. Elon Musk publicly questioned the need for such savings, arguing that future technological advances could eliminate poverty altogether.
