Tom Aspinall is moving ahead with major treatment to address ongoing eye issues caused by Ciryl Gane’s eye pokes during their UFC 321 title fight.
The heavyweight champion has been dealing with lingering damage since the October bout, which was ruled a no contest after Gane poked Aspinall in both eyes. After consultations with specialists and further evaluations, Aspinall confirmed that surgery on both eyes is now scheduled.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aspinall said he expects to have surgery on one eye immediately, with the second procedure planned for mid-January. He added that the focus is on recovery before making any decisions about returning to training or competition.
The 32-year-old has not set a timeline for his comeback but has reiterated that the only fight he’s interested in is a rematch with Gane, whom he has accused of deliberately causing the eye injuries and intends to face again once medically cleared.
