Mark Zuckerberg briefly became the world’s second-richest person in October 2024, but despite adding $23 billion to his fortune since then, he has slipped to sixth place on the global rich list as other tech leaders pulled further ahead.

The Meta CEO is now worth about $229 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. While his wealth has grown steadily, rivals including Jeff Bezos, Larry Page, Sergey Brin, and Larry Ellison have seen faster gains, reshaping the rankings. Elon Musk has surged even further ahead, with his net worth climbing to roughly $632 billion, widening the gap between him and Zuckerberg to more than $400 billion.

Alphabet cofounders Page and Brin each added around $100 billion, vaulting them into second and fourth place. Bezos rose to third with a $39 billion gain, while Ellison climbed to fifth after adding $52 billion. Bernard Arnault also slipped in the rankings despite modest gains.

The shifts largely reflect stock performance, with Tesla and Alphabet leading on AI-driven optimism, while Meta’s shares have lagged behind. As a result, Zuckerberg has fallen four spots despite growing richer — though with only a narrow gap separating him from the top tier, the rankings could change again quickly.
